Robert Borowick Custom Obituary

Bob Borowick creative obituary

The world lost a beautiful man and a kind soul with the sudden passing of Robert (Bob) A. Borowick, 51, of Blaine, on January 20, 2014.

Known for his integrity and desire to put others’ needs before his own, Bob was a caring and patient man who always had good things to say. That is, except when he would unleash a sense of humor so dry that only a fortunate few could react with a chuckle rather than a shake of the head.

Bob was born June 26, 1962, the son of the late Louis and Marcella Borowick. Bob worked in the print industry most of his life, including 13 years at Medical Arts Press/Staples Print Solutions as Facilities/Maintenance and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager; and 18 years at Deluxe Corporation, working his way up from production to Facility and EH&S Coordinator.

Bob’s conscientious approach to his job mirrored his life at home. “Mr. Safety” went out of his way to make sure his fellow employees, friends and family were safe, keeping a full supply of bandages and other first aid materials at the ready just in case. Bob did everything first-class, believing anything less than his best was a waste of time and talent.

First and foremost, Bob was an infinitely dedicated and loving husband to his soulmate and best friend of 11 years, Jennifer. He was extraordinarily handsome, with sparkling blue eyes that could melt your heart.

Bob enjoyed a variety of passions in life, including model railroads, woodworking, gardening, bird hunting with his fuzzy “kids,” camping and music. He also wrote beautiful prose and poetry, deeply emotional and from the heart.

Always the builder, Bob used his extensive skills to beautifully remodel the inside of the house. He owned a garage full of every saw and woodworking tool imaginable, which he used to build the famous “Fort Al,” a toasty enclosure that hosted many winter bonfires with family and friends. More than one can of vegetables met its demise in spectacular explosions in one of two outdoor fire pits that Bob loved to use.

Bob also was a master gardener, patiently teaching Jennifer the finer points of creating a haven that visitors referred to as “the beautiful Borowick backyard.” The outdoors was Bob’s favorite environment, and he loved camping at Sawbill Outfitters near Tofte, Minn. He would warn anyone to stay away from Alton Lake – trust him, there’s bad juju there.

A crack shot, Bob loved to hunt pheasant at Wild Wings Hunt Club with his brothers and brother-in-law, and kept his beloved Brittanys busy with their retrieving duties. Annie was his favorite, and after she passed away, Trinity took over his heart.

Bob was truly passionate about trains, winning awards with Cheryl in building N scale model railroads. His knowledge of trains was extensive and he was always willing to share it with anyone who showed an interest.

In addition to his wife, Jennifer, Bob is survived by his brothers Greg (Terri) and Kevin (Susan); fuzzy kids Trinity and Cassidy; many special nieces and nephews; and treasured friends, including extended parents Susan and Larry Carroll.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Scott (Lorraine) and Tom; a sister, Pat (Tom) Bidon; and fuzzy kids Annie and Sam.

Bob will be remembered as a great guy who the world only saw with a smile on his face. All are welcome to attend a memorial service Friday, January 31, at Withrow Ballroom. Doors will open at 4 p.m., with the memorial service at 5 p.m. and a celebration of life to follow.
